TEXAS PHARMACY FOUNDATION
General Scholarship
Texas Pharmacy Foundation offers a $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a career in pharmacy at an accredited college in Texas. A Foundation trustee or representative presents the awards at the Rxperts Conference & Expo. Texas Pharmacy Foundation offers annual scholarships to students pursuing a career in pharmacy at an accredited college in Texas. The amount of the scholarship award depends on the funds available. Pharmacy students entering their second (P2) and third (P3) professional years with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in required courses are eligible. In addition, the applicant must be a student member of Texas Pharmacy Association. Students will be judged on financial need and the potential to become a leader for Texas pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in pharmacy school and community activities. Completed applications and supporting documents should be given to your Dean by by the deadline on the application.

Larry "Neal" McClaugherty Scholarship
Texas Pharmacy Foundation (TPF) offers the McClaugherty Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a student pursuing a career in pharmacy at The University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Presentation of this award will be made by a member of the TPF Board of Trustees or other representative of TPF at the Rxperts Conference & Expo.
Pharmacy students from University of Houston College of Pharmacy entering their fourth (P4) professional years in the Fall 2010 with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in required courses are eligible. In addition, the applicant must be a student member of Texas Pharmacy Association. Students will be judged on financial need and the potential to become a leader for Texas pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in pharmacy school and community activities
Larry and Kathy McClaugherty are presenting this award in honor of their son, Neal. Neal was born March 23, 1983. He had a lack of oxygen at birth which resulted in his cerebral palsy. Neal is a non-verbal quadriplegic. Neal attended the Friendswood Independent School District from the time he was 18 months old until he matriculated through Friendswood High School in May 2005. He loves people, sports, including golf, basketball, horses, and especially his Friendswood Lady Mustangs basketball team. Neal has participated in the summer camping program at the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP) camp in Centerpoint, near Kerrville. University of Houston Pharmacy students volunteer and some participate in clinical rotations during their final year as part of the medical team at the camp. Neal continues to be involved in the “Best Buddies” program at Friendswood High School in Friendswood.
Larry has been dedicated to pharmacy and community service in Texas for nearly 35 years. Currently, he has his own consulting business. Larry has served in various positions in the Texas Pharmacy Association. He is currently adjunct clinical faculty and active preceptor for both the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. He has taught the dispensing pharmacy and non-prescription drug courses at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Kathy is a registered nurse and an infection control practitioner. She supports Larry in his work with her love and through her loving long-term care for Neal.

Luther and Mary Ann Parker Scholarship
The Texas Pharmacy Foundation (TPF) is offering the Luther and Mary Ann Parker Scholarship to a student pursuing a career in pharmacy at an accredited Texas school or college of pharmacy. The amount of the scholarship award depends on the funds available. The 2010 award will be $1,000.
Luther and Mary Ann Parker have been dedicated to pharmacy in Texas for nearly 40 years. Luther retired as CEO of the Texas Pharmacy Foundation on December 31, 2002. He served as Executive Director of the Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA), CEO and President of TPF, and clinical assistant professor at The University of Texas College of Pharmacy, where he taught health care administration, pharmacy law and contemporary pharmacy issues. Luther was very active in a number of local, state, national and international professional organizations. Mary Ann actively supported Parker in his work as president of local, state and national auxiliaries, regular attendance at local, TPA and APhA meetings and raising funds for TPA and TPF.

The overall goal of this student award program is to provide opportunities for professional growth and development, and the promotion of the profession while a student pharmacist. Additionally, the award strives to foster student involvement in and commitment to the Texas Pharmacy Association and the Texas Pharmacy Foundation.

Robert Clayton Scholarship
The Texas Pharmacy Foundation (TPF) is offering the Robert Clayton Scholarship to a student pursuing a career in pharmacy at an accredited Texas school or college of pharmacy. The amount of the scholarship award depends on the funds available. The 2010 award will be $1,000.
Robert Clayton was a consultant pharmacist and Certified Diabetes Educator who died in a tragic car accident on his way to an American Pharmacist Association conference. Robert was an active leader in Texas Pharmacy Association and the then ‘Section’ of Consultant Pharmacists. The scholarship was originally organized to be awarded annually to encourage students to pursue the ideals exhibited by Robert during his time in our profession.
To be eligible for the Robert Clayton Scholarship, a pharmacy student must be enrolled in an accredited Texas College of Pharmacy and entering their second (P2), third (P3) or fourth (P4) professional years in the Fall 2010 with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 in required courses. In addition, the applicant must be a student member of Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA), show interest in the practice of consultant pharmacy in Long-Term Care, Assisted Living or MHMR facilities, or pharmacy practice involving the treatment of geriatric patients. Applicant should demonstrate interest by listing participation in electives, rotations, internships, employment or volunteer work in any of these areas. Students will be judged on scholarship, need, and the potential to become a leader for Texas pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in pharmacy school and community activities.
